You can install linux on the 2nd drive and configure grub to boot the
new intallation from the 2nd disk. During the installation, install
grub to the 2nd drive, not the MBR. This way it'll be there if you
change your set up later, and you have a grub entry to reference.
Afterward, boot into RH9, and add an entry for your new drive, using
the /boot/grub/grub.conf on the 2nd drive as an example, changing
anything as necessary.
