I'd be in favor of such an event, but I would suggest calling it
something slightly different, perhaps a software freedom fair, for
instance. I hate to be cliche, but open source doesn't really bring out
the importance of Free Software. Software Freedom does. Free Software
fair would be confusing to people - they would expect free stuff.

My primary interest in GNU/Linux is for the freedom rather than what you
can and can not do with Free Software.
