I'd first have to put in what i think would be the obvious choice (IMHO): The Realm Kit.

Right now I'm running a Realm (that is: ncsu-flavoured linux) under Fedora 8 in my lab. I know the prof doing it is looking for help with it. Its FOSS and local, I dunno what more you could look for... big name projects?

Another point: What about Google's Summer of Code? Just a suggestion. Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a team together to try for the next Summer of Code (if there is one).

Last question: will it be a group effort, or is everyone just developing independently (in which case I might stick with working on my MMO AI
