Hey everyone,Â
This week we'll be having a joint meeting with the Open Source club before our dinner meeting. Here's a description of what the meeting will be about:Â
The FOSS (Free Open Source Software) Interest Group will hold its second of 3 meetings this fall on Wednesday 10/23/2019, 5:00pm-6:30pm in EB2-3211.
Our topic will be security issues in open source, and our guest speaker will be NCSU professor Brad Reaves. This is a joint meeting with the NCSU Linux Users Group , one of the active groups on campus that has a strong connection to open source.
Join us for a wide-ranging discussion of security issues, from mobile malware to data leaks to "why did leftpad.js break the internet?". 🤔
A third meeting is being planned for mid-November, with the tentative topic of open source license models (what they mean, what to watch out for, and more).
Join this google group if you want to receive announcements about future meetings and related content: https://groups.google.com/a/ncsu.edu/d/forum/group-csc-foss . For questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Jamie Jennings.
After the talks, we'll head over with some of the Open Source club members to our dinner meeting afterwards. I can provide transportation to/from the dinner spot back to centennial if needed. Vote on the location here:Â
Thanks,ÂPOTLUG
