Hi everyone,

You may remember earlier this year Dr. Lisa Lowe giving a presentation on high performance computing at NC State, and asking us if we could help make some Linux tutorials to help users get started. Now that we're on break it seems like a good time to do that.

Here's a list of topics she would like us to cover:
- CLI essentials
- Advanced CLI (piping, string manipulation, grep, redirection, etc)
- Git and GitHub
- Vim

Some other topics that we can do, but need to have people covering the above first, are:
- Docker
- Compiling software

If you'd be interested in doing one of the topics, please let me know in an email with what topics you want to do. If you want to do one of the more advanced topics, include it and I'll let you know if we can go ahead and do them. I'm planning on doing Git/GitHub, but if someone else wants to do it let me know and we can figure it out.

Lisa has already created some videos, and you can watch them here to get an idea of what we should be aiming for. If you want to just record your audio and footage, feel free to send it to me and I'll edit it together. You're totally free to edit yourself if you want though (a great FOSS video editor for Linux, Windows, and Mac is Kdenlive, btw.)

If you can, try to email me your requested topics by Wednesday the 9th so we can go ahead and make final assignments. If you have any other questions, let me know in email too.

Thanks,
William Harrell
