Is it a single file you're transferring? If there are multiple files
that aren't in a tar archive or something similar, there will be
overhead time for each file. However, assuming a single file, ssh also
has to encrypt and decrypt everything that it transfer, unlike torrent
transfers. If the CPU is heavily taxed at either end, that will act as
a bottleneck. I've only experienced that with older computers. That's
the only reason I can think it might be.
