I know my vote doesn't count much b/c I can never come to the meetings, but I agree, the penguin does not look that inviting. I also prefer the LUG one because I think it is a hilarious tee shirt.

As to other Linux users not knowing what LUG is: they should be able to figure it out because of all the flavors of Linux displayed on the LUG nut tee.

So my vote is LUG nut.

I'm actually with Ed on this one, I really don't like hte penguin. I'm mostly ambivalent between the two. My issue with the penguin is that it's obvious that it's supposed to say something, but it took me way too long to actually figure out what it says. The design is clever, but I don't think it's successful as a t-shirt design. I prefer the lug nut to the buttons, but I don't have as strong an opinion on it.

My opinion should probably count least since I'm graduating next semester, but I want to put in my two cents.

I'm probably offending everyone here since it got the most votes, but I think that penguin design is pretty ugly. Not really a shirt I would want to wear around just because I think it's an awesome shirt. It looks like it could have been done with stencil and spray paint. The design doesn't have any depth like the other two do, and quite frankly that penguin looks a little creepy - especially (but not only) the one with a legible C that looks like a scowl.

As for the other two I'd actually be proud to wear either of them on a regular basis. Both of them look great. They have depth and are interesting. The buttons shirt actually says that we are a Linux Users Group, which is nice since even plenty of Linux users on campus don't know what a LUG is and won't get it. The LUG nut is a great pun, and who doesn't appreciate that? Jasmine Adams was thrilled when she saw we had a lug nut design, since that's what she always calls us.

But it doesn't matter what Jasmine likes, because we're trying to get shirts that we want to wear. If I'm the only one that thinks how I do about that penguin, by all means we'll get it. I just don't think it's a design worth the $245 we're paying for it.

We're looking less for raw votes and more for justifications, like particular aspects being bad or good.

I'll write up my thoughts when I get a bit more time.
