First, keep in mind that the software has caused significant problems on several machines I've seen.

But yes, you can do it on Linux. Please see http://www4.ncsu.edu/~bfritter/index.html

Although I personally find it much easier to just open konqueror and type the following:

sftp:// dsmarcus@remote-linux.eos.ncsu.[redacted]/ncsu/dsmarcus
just replace dsmarcus with your unity id.
