I'd suggest *against* using the gentoo install CDs. Gentoo takes a long time to
install, and while its installing, its nice to use your computer. So... use
Knoppix! I've got plenty of those you can have/borrow/copy/whatever.

The install documentation for Gentoo using Knoppix is top knotch... (or so I'd
like to think; I wrote it :-). Take a look:
