Eh, I'd still use a router anyways. If you have a roommate, you can
both plug into the router and not pay extra for two IPs. If not, then
you can set up for PPPoE on just Linux. Mepis had some problems with
their PPPoE stuff, but I think that's all cleared up now. Definately
set up a firewall and close down the ports you don't need though, if you
opt not to use a router (You should do that even if you have a router,
but it's not as vital a security measure then).
