Agreed here as well.

Also, not to look a gift-horse in the mouth, but knowing full well how
upgrade cycles go (they often don't!), may I suggest working toward the
most recent version available? I'm personally a so-called "power" user
which basically means I've read the man pages, and I use certain
functionality that doesn't exist prior to even the now long-in-tooth
Bash 3. For example, regular expressions, subshell quirk fixes, and
other programmatic things.
