Hi Alex,

The latest distribution of Ubuntu, Feisty Fawn, natively supports wacom
and tablet computers. Specifically, I use Kubuntu and it responds well.
I'm actually not sure if Ubuntu (gnome desktop) has the same
functionality, but I imagine it would.

The hardest part of using linux on a tablet is finding good journaling
software. I used jarnal for a bit, as well as a few others suggested over
at ubuntuforums.org. I never found any handwriting recognition software,
so that may be a deal breaker for you.

Of course, if you want a linux tablet with all that stuff taken care of,
you can purchase a fully-supported thinkpad conversion from EmperorLinux.

I believe these come with a few years of support.

Hope this gets you started!
Jeff
