Hello everybody! I hope that everyone's short week is kicking off to a good
start.
If not, you still have something to look forward to: *tomorrow, Tuesday the
22nd, 7pm at Golden Dragon on Hillsborough St*, the LUG will be having
dinner and enjoying the company of fellow Linux users. We hope to see
everyone there!
Also, the end of the semester is creeping up on us very quickly. As a
reminder, here is our planned schedule for the remainder of Spring 2016:
3/22: Dinner at Golden Dragon
3/29: Talk on Audio Systems (Quentin Young)
4/5: Social dinner
4/12: Hack Day
4/17: End-of-semester elections and party night

Subject: Call for Interest: CTF with the Information Assurance Student Group

Hi LUG friends & members,
The Information Assurance Student Group is planning to hold a Capture the
Flag event on April 16. For those not familiar, in the field of security
Capture the Flag refers to an event where people compete against each other
individually or in teams to utilize their security skills to complete an
objective. There are several types of CTF; at present the IASG is planning
to host a Jeopardy-style event where contestants will compete to answer
questions.
Our vice president, Tony Iskander, is our liaison to the IASG and I have
expressed interest in the LUG partnering with IASG for this event. If
anyone would be interested in competing, creating questions, or otherwise
participating in the event, email myself or the mailing list expressing
your interest. I'll get a list of people together and hopefully we can have
some fun with our CSEC friends :-)

Hello once again everyone!
It's a long weekend, so I'll keep this message brief. I just wanted to
remind everybody in advance of next Tuesday's usual LUG meeting, 7-8pm in
EBII Room 3001. The topic will be audio systems, i.e. why your buddy can
never turn the volume up on Youtube videos playing on his half-baked Linux
distro.
Our beloved president Quentin will be giving the talk--don't miss it!

workings of Linux audio systems--historically one of the most opaque fields
of the kernel.

The time has come to vote on the location of our *final social dinner of
the semester, on April 5 at 7:00pm*. Continuing our Hillsborough St trend,
Kabob and Curry looks like a wonderful (and reasonably priced) place, if
people enjoy Indian food.

Yeah it's just the fault of the design in the website. It seems very easy
to subscribe one self without calculating the implications. I think you
could just add a <p> tag that it's a personal channel, and people should
avoid subscribing unnecessarily. In my case I am an International student
and a Linux enthusiast. I subscribed before i got to know that NCSU
rejected me.
Or you could change the way you interact in the mailing systems. It would
be good to have a OTG Linux Forum.
