Hi all,

as I have posted earlier, the FOSS4G North America conference is in Raleigh
this year! FOSS4G is the main conference for Free and Open Source Software
for Geospatial (anything and everything). This one is organized by
LocationTech and OSGeo.

FOSS4G North America 2016, May 2-5, Raleigh, Convention Center
https://2016.foss4g-na.org/

There are many discounts and scholarships. Speakers have 100% for an All
Access Pass which includes all workshops. The early bird submission
deadline with higher chance of acceptance is January 22, 2016. The final
deadline is Feburary 8, 2016 [1]. The deadline to apply for scholarships is
January 22, 2016 [2]. The early bird registration ends February 26, 2016
but the student discount is applicable later as well [3]. There are
discounts for Eclipse, LocationTech, and OSGeo committers [4].

For the possible topics, check the list of sessions proposed so far:

https://2016.foss4g-na.org/program/sessions/proposed

Hope to see you there (possibly speaking),
Vashek

Hi LUG members, associates and acquaintances,

Due to extremely low attendance at January 12th's meeting, the planning
meeting has been moved to *this week.*

Tomorrow night, 1/19, we will hold our semester planning meeting. Location
will be Engineering Building II, Room 3001,
on NC State's Centennial Campus. Meeting will run from 7:00 -- 8:00 P.M.

Items on the agenda are:
-- Meeting logistics, topics, speakers and locales
-- Officer elections & club structure
-- FOSS Faire (if time permits)

Results of officer elections will be posted on the website if you cannot
attend.

Remember, even if you have not attended a LUG meeting before, this is a
great way to meet members
and get acquainted with what we do in the club. More is better!

*If attendance remains poor, the LUG will cease operations for this
semester.*

See you there!

Hello once again, LUG subscribees.

After some discussion and further thought, it has been decided that in
order to provide more notice
and a higher chance of attendance, tomorrow's planning meeting will be
pushed back to next Tuesday --
that is January the 26th -- as this puts us past the census date for
enrollment. This way folks should
be more aware of their schedules and will be able to make more informed
decisions with respect to
scheduling the rest of the semester.

*Therefore the OFFICIAL Semester Planning Meeting will be held 1/26, in
Room 3001 of Engineering Building 2*
*on NC State's Centennial Campus, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM sharp.*

BE THERE OR BE □ !!!

In lieu of this last-minute change, we will not be having a meeting
tomorrow.

This is your Vice President signing off. See you next week!

Quentin Young
