Hi All,
Does anyone know a GUI Partition Editing software for creating GPT based
partitions for linux? I have heard GParted works ok but may have some
problems. The terminal based gdisk may be too confusing for me.

You can try using just "parted" from the terminal. It's a bit confusing but you can find some nice tutorials about it.

Take a look at cgdisk. It's from the same project as gdisk. While it
doesn't have a GUI, it has a TUI and could be easier for you to use than
gdisk.

Hello, LUGgers!
In preparation for our hack day on Saturday, we will be having dinner
tomorrow night at Bojangles' Famous Chicken and Biscuits, 3808 Western
Boulevard (on the NW corner of the intersection with Gorman). We're
scheduling it for 7 PM, but if you can't make it quite at 7, no problem!
We'll probably talk about cool stuff to work on at the hack day in Mann
this Saturday, and some of the ideas Barry and I have cooked up for next
semester. In addition, wandering LUG alumnus Brian "spiffytech"
Cottingham will be in attendance for the first time since winter, with
stories of his travels through the American West.
We hope to see you there!

Hai LUGz:
This is a reminder that the Linux Users Group Hack Day is tomorrow!
We will be meeting in Mann Hall on Main Campus in Room 301 from 12 PM to 8
PM. For those of you unfamiliar with the idea of a hack day, it's basically
this event where we get together for eight hours and work on projects
together in order to get feedback and ideas from one another. This will be
our sixth hack day since starting this tradition, and they have always been
great fun!
When you arrive, the door will be locked. Send a text message to
XXX-525-5075 if you need to be let in. The officers will bring some snacks
and sodas to keep everyone alive while hacking, and we encourage others to
bring snacks to share with the group as well. Also, if you happen have a
spare surge protector you can bring, you will be loved forever. :D
I hope to see you there!

Topic: Lightning Talks
Presenter: YOU!
When: Thursday, 11th July 2013, 7pm
Where: Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, NC State
Engineering Building II, Centennial Campus
RSVP: http://trilug-july2013.eventbrite.com
We'll be putting the July meeting in the hands of the TriLUG community
by holding a series of Lightning Talks. Lightning talks are short talks
of about 5-15 minutes long that give the audience a taste of a topic
rather than going into the great detail associated with formal
presentations. If you've been working on a cool project lately or
learned something cool about technology, you are qualified to present
something!
If you have an idea for a talk, please pitch it on the TriLUG mailing
list and the community will help you cultivate it into a presentation
you can be proud of. Prepend your subject line with "LT:" to make it
easy to find (ie subject = "LT: Using Inkscape"). The Steering Committee
will then collate a list of the topics and speakers from the mailing
list posts. There isn't a set theme yet, but we expect a theme will
emerge from the discussions in the next couple of weeks.
When we have a line up of speakers, they will be posted to
http://trilug.org/2013-07-11/lightning-talks.

Hello, LUGgers!
I know that the Spring semester is still a month and a half away, but
the LUG hasn't been idle this summer. At dinner after our last
hackday, we discussed some potential plans for next semester, and I
finally got around to transcribing them all and uploading them to the
wiki:
http://lug.ncsu.edu/wiki/Fall_2013_Planning/
Key points include:
First, we're probably moving back to Tuesday for meetings. There's a
rough consensus that Tuesday is the best day, and it avoids
conflicting with TriLUG. Plus, it's the LUG's traditional meeting day
-- we only met on Mondays last semester to accomodate Barry's 21st
Century Literacies class.
Second, we're planning to set up a vendor booth at Packapalooza.
Packapalooza is a huge street festival on Hillsborough Street, that's
happening on August 24 -- and if everything works out, we're going to
be there with a Raspberry Pi, Minecraft, and Python. Besides spreading
the word about the LUG, we're also going to demonstrate how you can
use Python to control Minecraft -- with excavation demos, Conway's
Game of Life, and whatever other crazy ideas people come up with.
Third, we're planning to incorporate lightning talks into our
technical sessions this year. Besides our headline speaker, we'll also
give everyone at the meeting the opportunity to share something they
made or something they learned recently.
Finally, we have over a dozen talk ideas, and we know we're not going
to be able to do all of them. Your feedback is critical -- both in
deciding which of our ideas are worth pursuing, and if you have
something great that we haven't even thought of yet.
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for next year's
activities, post them to the list, or hop on IRC. We know this
semester is going to be a great one for the LUG, and we hope to see
you there!
Thanks,
Matthew Frazier
