FOSS Fair Greetings!

Its that time of the year again. Its FOSS Fair time! NC State's 5th
annual FOSS Fair is only a month away. Please join us on February 9th
on NC State's Centennial Campus. Lunch is provided for folks that sign
up before February 1st. Register today by heading to our Wiki page and
filling in the details:

http://go.ncsu.edu/FOSSFAIR2013

The FOSS Fair is an unconference or barcamp style event that is driven
by YOU. Giving a talk is fun and can be as formal or informal as you
are comfortable. Want to get some folks together to bounce ideas around
about an Open Source project of yours? You need to give a talk at FOSS
Fair! Need a team to hack out some code? Give a talk at the FOSS Fair!
Want to learn more about an Open Source idea, project, or philosophy?
You can in your talk!

This year the FOSS Fair is sponsored by Red Hat and we will have Jason
Hibbets from Opensource.com with us as our keynote speaker.

See you in a month!

LUG'ers,

As posted a day ago, the NCSU FOSS Fair is coming up quickly. I hope
everyone is planning their session. I have a couple things that I could
really use some help with.

The first is a Facebook page. The FOSS Fair doesn't have a FB page at
all and it would be fantastic if one of you would like to volunteer to
take care of that. (And help get us some broader visibility.)

Secondly, we usually have some drawings for door prizes. However, I
don't yet have any door prizes to raffle off. If you know a company or
someone that would like to donate a Linux device or something cool that
deals with FOSS in some way please send me in their direction. Not
having door prizes isn't a show stopper, but it does help keep people
around until lunch!

If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know.

Hello, LUGgers!

We now have a confirmed date, time, and location for our semesterly
planning meeting! We will be meeting Monday, January 14, 2013 at 7:00 PM,
in room 3208 of the shiny new James B. Hunt Engineering Library!

At this meeting, we will:

- Brainstorm ideas for technical sessions
- Select dates and themes for our semester hack days
- Plan the LUG's involvement in events like FOSS Fair
- Discuss the role and mission of the LUG going forward
- Admire the wide variety of chairs present in Hunt Library
- Go out to dinner afterwards

For those who haven't been there yet, Hunt Library is on Centennial Campus,
directly south of Engineering Building III. Wolfline routes 3, 8, 10, and
11 all stop there, and it's close to the Oval West parking deck on Partners
Way. It's very hard to miss. Room 3208 is on the third floor - from the
giant yellow stairs, turn right, walk past the Game Lab, and 3208 will be
on the right.

We hope to see you there!

Thanks,
Matthew Frazier
LUG Vice President

Hello all - the room we reserved is actually under construction, so we
have to change rooms. There are no more large rooms available.

If we get too cramped in this room, we can try to get a place in the
Graduate Student commons. If we find a new room, I'll write the room
we're in on the wall in 3217.

Sorry about the trouble, everyone.

Good evening, Matthew!

As evidenced by my e-mail during the course of the meeting tonight, I was
unable to attend. Moving forward, I will try to make a meeting every other
week. This does fall on the same night as a small group meeting, but I
think I can make it work.

Thanks for the invite and remembering me!

Hello,
The Slides and Video from last night are now available from the TriLUG
meeting page:
http://trilug.org/2013-01-10/Raspberry_Pi

The video and audio quality aren't too bad, considering we were
streaming it from two laptops over the Red Hat Guest Wifi network.
