Hi,
I have recently updated from F16 to F17[kernel - 3.4] .I wanted update my
current NVIDIA[GT525M] driver to 295.59. But after installing the driver,
I'm unable to get to the
login screen.I see a list of services being started, but it stops after
starting 'SendMail Client' service. All other tty doesn't respond, I just
have a blinking cursor in all of them.
I think I might have messed up my display manager conf. or installed the
driver by compiling it for a wrong kernel. Now I have no access to
any terminal, Is there any way to
revert back to my old drivers or to fix the new NVIDIA driver with. Can
someone help me out with this issue ?

Hey Manojkumar,

If you're having trouble with the display drivers try deleting your
Xorg.conf (/etc/X11/xorg.conf). If you'd like to try an nvidia generated
one just use nvidia-xconfig and it will generate one for you.

Good Luck,
Andrew

Doesn't seem like the boot is getting to the point where X is an issue.

Thanks for the information. Yeah you are right, I'm unable to reach a
console or command prompt. The booting procedure does stops in the middle.

Thank you guyz for your support, I have fixed the problem. Initially I
edited the kernel line in the grub and booted at Level 1, then as Andrew
pointed out I did delete my xorg.conf. Rebooting the system now gave me
back my desktop. Cheers !

Hi All,

I would like to invite you to attend a talk by Keith Bergelt [1] of the
Open Invention Network on Patents and Open Source. It will be on:

Thursday, June 21st
at 6:00pm
at Splat Space, Durham's hackerspace, on 331 W Main St

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Bergelt

To RSVP for the event, please see:

For directions see:

(Our website is currently having some difficulties, but here's a backup
courtesy of the Wayback Machine.)

I'm happy to answer any questions on-list or off, as appropriate.

Hope to see you there!

Cheers,
Cov

P.S. if anyone has additional speaker suggestions for the "Splat Space

Is there any possibility of streaming the talk online (or perhaps, a
recorded version sometime later)?

While we do plan on recording the talk, I don't think we'll be able to
pull off streaming this time.

OK, everyone! I'm very excited about the Hack Day this weekend! Here are
the details:

NCSULUG Hack Day
Saturday, June 30, from 10:00-18:00
NCSU Engineering Building 2
Room 1227

Basic administrivia:
* The EB2 doors are locked on the weekend, so during the hack day, we're
going to voluntell people to take 15 minute shifts in the atrium to let
others in the building.
* I told registration and records there would be no food present, so
don't make me a liar. For lunch and dinner, we'll be migrating to some
of the fine eating establishments in and around Raleigh.

If this hack day turns out to be a success, maybe we can have more of
these during the school year. I was rather surprised by the number of
yesses and maybes I received.

I'm looking forward to it, folks!
