For more info about local 2600 meetings[1] visit nc2600.org

http://nc2600.org/
<http://nc2600.org/>

and click on "meetings." The forums linked from there can also be
helpful and informative and the people are quite friendly.

Security is often discussed but 2600 is not just for security geeks.

Raleigh meets at the Royal Bean and generally does not attract much of a
crowd before 6pm. It is open to the public and is barely organized.
It's just a gathering spot, there's no minutes or membership or anything
of the like. The Royal Bean is in the same building as Quiznos and
Ben & Jerrys, on the side near Playmakers.

[1] <http://www.2600.com/meetings/> Meetings take place around the
world on the first Friday of each month in public locations.

"2600 Meetings exist as a forum for all interested in technology to meet
and talk about events in technology-land, learn, and teach. Meetings
are open to anyone of any age or level of expertise.

All meetings take place on the first Friday of every month from
approximately 5 pm to 8 pm local time unless otherwise noted."
