My question pertains to converting a filesystem
from ext2 to ext3 -- how to verify it really
is now journaling.
I'm using kernel 2.4.21 (in case that matters).
I used "tune2fs -j" to convert
the partition to ext3 before it was mounted,
and as I understand it that means my journal file
is hidden and is not merely a .journal file in
the root directory.
I've rebooted and "df -T" says the partition
is a ext3 file system.
Is this the only way to verify that ?
Is an ext3 file system always journaling, i.e.
is there no on/off control of journaling ?
(I believe I'm using the default journaling mode
of ordered because I didn't put any new
options on my mount for the converted partition).
Thanks,
Kevin.
