       You can mount the afs workspace using sftp:// in the file browser.
       
       That's what I do. Just open file browser (GNOME) , pres Ctrl+L to get
       
       the editable location bar and there type  s
       
        ftp://unity_id@hostname
       
       where
       
       hostname can be remote.ncsu.edu . and press enter. You are good to go.
       
       If you want you can
 also make it a bookmark in file browser.
