Hello, everybody,

I'd like to issue a call out for anyone who has experience with, wants
experience with, or needs experience with the Realm Kit. This realm
kit would be a set of packages and/or modules that would add on to
Fedora or Ubuntu, and add NCSU fuctionality. Specifically,
authentication through kerberos, aquiring tokens, OpenAFS, and
NCSU-Specific software and services, etc.

For those that have missed the memo, we've started tracking down the
old LUG bank account, which (to the last record we have) was at
~$1100. One of the plans with what to do with the funding was invest
in some considerably sized (~2-4 GB) USB thumb drives, and have them
installed and partitioned such that they can be booted and the user
have a fair amount of space to use and play with. This offers users
the ability to test Linux (and the device drivers that go with it) on
their computer without touching the hard drive. Ideally, we could
have these made with Realm Fedora or Realm Ubuntu, as those two are
forgiving to new users.

I'll say that I, for one, am very interested in extending the Realm
Kit for Ubuntu. Outside of the Linux user group, 2 out of every three
users I see with linux have some form of *buntu, so this is a large
demographic we could appeal to.

Who's in?

Thanks,
~Alex Ray
