Thanks for the emails already received. I made my query around 11:00pm
last night, and already this morning at 6:45am I have two replies!
That's quick turn-around ;)

Follow-up:

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10. Also, the folder of DVD files is actually on my
hard drive, not on a DVD that I've mounted.

I'll look into the various suggestions I've received, then let you guys
know how I fare.

Thanks again,

Daniel

Hey Daniel

On the distro's I use most often for everyday stuff (Ubuntu, Fedora, RHEL) automatically give me an option to burn ISO's to DVD/CD when I hook them up to an optical drive with burnable blank media in it.

maybe it'd help to know what operating system you're using.  we'd be able to give you a more specific answer that way.

googling 'make iso under linux' tells me there is a 'mkisofs' command.

looking on my own Fedora 10 machine i see 'mkisofs' is linked to 'genisoimage', and theres a lot of info on the usage and such.

let us know how it goes (and if i missed the question completely)

Hey guys and gals,

Hoping someone knows how to build a DVD ISO image from a folder
containing VOB's and IFO's.  Can anyone suggest a tool?

think that simply dumping the contents of the folder into an ISO, and
then burning to disc, will render a DVD playable on most standalone
players. However, I'm mostly interested in creating an ISO that can be
played on my computer (where the specification restrictions are
undoubtedly less strict).

So, perhaps using the "dd" command will suffice. But perhaps not. I'd
appreciate clarification and/or suggestions for the best tool to use.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel
