Dinner is lined up for next Tuesday:
Where: Noodles & Co, 403 Daniels St., in Cameron Village
When: Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 7:30 PM (NOT 7:00 PM!)
Noodles has a variety of noodle dishes American, Asian, and European. Keep in mind that the LUG does not pay for dinner - everyone pays for what they order. (Fortunately, Noodles' prices are quite reasonable: $4-$5 for a nicely sized bowl of noodles.) But if the restaurant isn't busy, they shouldn't mind if you just hang out with us and maybe have a beverage. (You can get to and from Cameron Village using the Wolfline 2 Hillsborough Street and the CAT 12 Method.)
The later time than normal is to accomodate a few special guests: LUG alumni Michael Wright and Carson Holgate, who now work for Google on the Android and Chrome teams, respectively (and likely some other Googlers as well). While we're enjoying dinner, they're probably going to tell us what kind of cool stuff they've been working on at Google, what's been going on since they moved to California, and why the new Android is named KitKat.
If you can't get enough Google, this event actually follows a larger event Google is putting on at State: a lightning talk session! Michael, Carson, and another Googler named Evan (who may be joining us for dinner) will go into detail about their projects and what it's like to work at Google.
Where: Engineering Building II 1231
When: Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 6:00 PM - 7:15 PM
If you plan to attend that one, make sure you RSVP to Google at http://goo.gl/T2xSrY so they can bring sufficient quantities of Google swag.
WARNING: While the lightning talks are part of Google's recruiting efforts, dinner is decidedly not. If you bring a résumé to dinner, we will throw you out.
We hope to see you there!
