Sensor setup

• The sensors can be either regular machines or dedicated IDS sensor machines. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages.

• Regular:

  • Re-use of hardware, no additional capital investment

• Dedicated:

  • Easier to perform IDS maintenance, no effect on other enterprise-wide services
