A Good Environment for HA
At least 2 servers, both of which are capable of running the application which we're making highly available.
These servers should be connected to each other in a cluster arrangement.
Recommended methods of connection are patch cabled ethernet, serial links, and tcp connections.
Use UPS's and surge protection. This removes the power as a possible failure point.
Redundant hardware whenever possible. RAIDs serve this purpose nicely...
