FAQ (from Trade shows) Trust me, you work enough trade shows, you get asked these things. I'm just getting them out of the way now. My server has amount of RAM and oc-12 data lines duct taped into a googleplex capable ring-ding-dingly-dang-a-dong ethernet device. I need no HA! The simple fact is that a single server system presents a weakpoint, so if a failure did occur (ex. little hacker children testing your firewall *cough*), you'd be SOL. But Linux/Solaris/BSD/NT doesn't crash! Ignoring the obvious response (which involves a LART), the stability of the operating system is simply one factor that affects the stability of a server in an enterprise environment. However, using a more stable OS adds to the prevention of a failure. The idea is prevention, then protection.
